Alpha AI agents and automation: what’s planned

Status: Alpha AI is pre-launch. Nothing on this page is available to use yet. It describes what we are building and how it is planned to work.

Most people use AI one question at a time. AI agents are different: you give them a goal, and they work through the steps to reach it. Alpha AI, the all-in-one AI app being built by Alpha Intelligence, includes two planned studios for this kind of work, Agents and Automation. This page explains what agents are, what ours are designed to do, and the safety rules we think every agent should follow.

What is an AI agent?

An AI agent is an AI system that can plan and carry out several steps toward a goal, instead of giving a single reply. A typical loop looks like this:

  • Understand the goal: “Compare three budget laptops for a student and recommend one.”
  • Make a plan: find candidates, check specs, look at prices, summarize trade-offs.
  • Use tools: search, read pages, do calculations.
  • Check the work: confirm the facts match the sources.
  • Report back with the result and how it got there.

Agents are promising, and they also make mistakes, sometimes several in a row. That is why the design matters as much as the model.

What Alpha AI Agents are designed to do

The planned Agents studio is meant for research and multi-step tasks you would otherwise do by hand. As planned:

  • You can see the agent’s plan before it starts and change it.
  • You can ask it to double-check its own work against its sources.
  • If a step fails, it is designed to retry that step and tell you what happened, instead of quietly guessing.
  • It ends with a clear report, not just a final answer.

Agents are planned to use the planned Alpha model family. Alpha will route tasks to specialized models, some built on open-source foundations. More on the models is on the models page.

Agents vs automation vs chat

  • Chat is a conversation: you ask, it answers, you follow up.
  • Agents take one goal and work through many steps, once.
  • Automation repeats a task you set up once, on a schedule you choose, such as “every Monday, summarize the week’s headlines about renewable energy.”

To be clear: we are not claiming our automations “learn on their own.” The plan is simpler and easier to trust. They run the steps you approved, retry when a step fails, and tell you the result.

Safety rules for agents

We think any AI agent should follow these rules, and we are designing ours around them:

  • A human approves the plan for anything important.
  • No spending money and no payments without explicit permission.
  • No sending messages or posting on your behalf without your approval.
  • Clear limits on how long a task runs and what it can access.
  • A visible record of what the agent did, so you can check it.

Before launch, we will publish exactly what Alpha AI agents can and cannot do.

Tasks agents are being designed for

  • Researching a topic and producing a sourced summary.
  • Comparing products, tools or options against criteria you set.
  • Turning a long document into notes, a timeline and key questions.
  • Preparing a weekly briefing on a subject you follow.

Where things stand today

Agents and Automation are planned and in development, and they are not available yet. Alpha Intelligence was founded by Benjamin G. Ocal, and we are building carefully rather than quickly. Read more on the About Alpha AI page, or join the Alpha AI waitlist to hear when early access opens.

Frequently asked questions

Can I run an Alpha AI agent today?

No. Alpha AI is pre-launch.

Will agents be able to act on my accounts?

Any access to outside accounts would need your clear permission, and we will explain the details before launch. Nothing like that exists today.
